Square Enix President: Versus XIII Is Not Dead

Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada has debunked recent rumors that believed the long-awaited Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been cancelled.

Taking to Twitter, Wada said that “There’s someone making a false rumor that Versus was cancelled. Haha…Just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. The presentation of the city knocked me off my feetlol.”



Last Friday, the Internet turned into a veritable firestorm upon hearing reports of Versus XIII’s purported cancellation, at least amongst the Square Enix faithful. And while this word straight from the top of Square Enix does stand to reassure those eager fans, it still has been six years since the game was first announced, and over one year since we’ve seen any updates to the game.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII does not currently have a release date.
