Knockout City is an action sports game developed by Velan Studio and published by Electronic Arts. The game was released on May 21, 2021 and became a free-to-play title on June 1, 2022. Knockout City turns a simple game like dodgeball into a true extreme sport with powerups and special abilities.
Knockout City received positive reviews from critics who praised its thrilling gameplay. Knockout City was nominated for “Best Multiplayer Game” at The Game Awards 2021 and “Online Game of the Year” at the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. Despite the favorable reception, Knockout City was sadly shut down on June 6, 2023. The only way to play the game today is through a Windows version that is compatible with privately hosted servers.
Knockout City Premise
Knockout City is a team-based multiplayer game that cranks the rules of dodgeball to eleven. The objective of the game is to knock out the opposing team by hitting them with a ball. There are a variety of special balls available in the game that have different effects, such as the Moon Ball and the Bomb Ball. Players can even throw each other as balls.
A number of maps set in the futuristic metropolis of Knockout City are available to battle in. Knockout City also offers multiple different game modes. There’s a lot of diverse content to enjoy in Knockout City. Although the game can only be played in a limited fashion now, Knockout City is still a pulse-pounding game of dodgeball.
Knockout City Series
Velan Studios is a relatively new video game developer. The studio was founded in November 2016. Knockout City was only the second game developed by the studio. At the moment, Knockout City is a stand-alone game with no prequels or sequels. Velan Studios’ other games have been racing games made for iconic franchises like Mario and Hot Wheels.
