Pokemon FireRed Version Cheats & Cheat Codes for Game Boy and Emulators

Pokemon Fire Red was first released in Japan on January 29, 2004, and then released in North America in the fall of 2004. Although the game is now nearly two decades old, Fire Red still remains popular amongst fans of the Pokemon video game franchise. It is uniquely positioned as it has the lore of the original Pokemon games and is essentially a great model of the game’s classic handheld experience.

However, today’s younger players, who weren’t around in the early 2000s to enjoy the game when it was released, may find the pace of the game to be slow. Today’s gamers are used to quick animations and semi-immediate gratification, but back when Fire Red was released, smartphones hadn’t ruined the attention spans of the people of Earth. The early 2000s gamers were comfortable with leisurely walking throughout the map, and taking time to evolve their Pokemon.

But, as most Pokemon fans know, these problems are avoidable now as many players play Pokemon on emulators that can be sped up! Playing Fire Red today on an emulator will essentially give you the true experience, minus the ability to trade Pokemon.

Premise

Pokemon Fire Red mainly takes place in the fictional Pokemon region of Kanto. As many players know, the Pokemon world is quite vast, and Kanto is just a region of that universe. Toward the end of the game, you can travel to the Sevii Islands, which did not exist in the original Red and Blue versions of the game. After you concur the Sevii Islands, you gain the ability to to trade with Ruby and Sapphire for exclusive Pokemon.

The game begins with your character advancing through a grassy field and is warned to stop by Professor Oak, a well-known Pokemon researcher in the game. He warns to be careful in the grass as many Pokemon live there, and he ushers the players to a lab and introduces them to his grandson, also a young Pokemon fan. This is when you choose a starter Pokemon for the game.

You will then immediately battle a member from your group and their Pokemon, thus kicking off a long adventure of battles throughout your journey. You advance to the next city until Professor Oak contacts you again, asking for the delivery of a parcel. Once returning to the Professor’s lab, you are presented with a Pokedex that obtains information about various Pokemon you may catch on your journey.

Next, your character will take off on a tour of the region’s cities, visiting various Pokemon Gyms that are called home by different Gym Leaders. To acquire a Gym Badge, you must battle the Gym Leader and defeat them. Once you acquire eight Gym Badges, you are granted entrance to the Pokemon League, a group of the area’s best Pokemon trainers.

In the Pokemon League, you will battle the Elite Four, and you may also come into contact with some Team Rocket members, who operate as a criminal group and serve as your opposition. After defeating the Elite Four, one of the members of the Four, Lorelei, goes missing. You must then go find her in her house on the islands. You must convince her to come back with you to battle Team Rocket.

Characters

The protagonist of Fire Red is a young child from the fictional Pokemon city of Pallet Town. The character is mentored by Professor Oak, a famed Pokemon researcher. Throughout your journey through the region, your character runs into many adversaries and companions.
